As an Account Manager (IT technical sales apprentice) I had to conduct the following: - Prospecting new businesses (cold calling/emailing) - Networking with in-house specialist - Working independently and as a wider team to meet customers requirements - Completing projects and courses for my apprentice provider - Hitting aligned KPIs set by my Manager in order to progress. Overall, as an Account Manager, it's my role to build and maintain relationships with IT professionals whilst aligning Softcat's resources to assist them with their ongoing IT related projects and requirements.
- Communication - Active Listening - Presenting - Cold calling - Strategic planning - Resilience - Time management
This programme has allowed me to develop as an individual inside and outside my career. This has enabled me to bring my foot through to door into the corporate world, understand how to perceive myself in my career and acquire the right characteristics in order for me to grow.
As new starts, we were settled in well and introduced to the company accordingly. Our apprentice team worked well with our Firebrand providers in order for us to complete our Apprenticeship programme.
We have an extensive amount of activities to get involved in at Softcat, this can vary from social activities like festive parties and quarterly celebrations to sports events like football matches, tough mudders, and sports days, with also being supported on networking events with customers and partners. Lastly, Softcat has a massive focus on volunteering and charity days, which all employees can get involved in.

Honestly the greatest place I have worked at! Softcat's culture is amazing and for a youngster starting my career in sales, coming straight from A-levels, has allowed me to build up the best characteristics and network. The support I have been open to throughout my apprenticeship has been unreal, from apprentice providers to Softcat colleagues, everyone is open to giving you a helping hand. Lastly, I have been able to join a great team who makes me look forward to coming into the office and giving it my all.
Be yourself. They are not looking for qualified employees, just people that are key to learn and give everything they've got.
