I work with the pictures team to help produce imagery for marketing purposes. My day usually consists of meetings with producers to plan and carry out photoshoots. I also reply to press enquires and digitally upload and tag the images from the shoot in order for publishers to find them.
I have learnt various new skills and developed one pre-existing ones. I have learnt a lot about email etiquette and how to respond to press, producers etc. I have learnt and experienced first hand the planning that goes into a conceptual shoot and how this is vital to get creative eye catching photographic campigns.
The apprentice learning that I do along side my work is enjoyable and interesting. The workshops are engaging and allow me to collaborate with the other apprentices in my workplace that I usually don't see very often. The work load is also a manageable amount, so I don not get stressed that I can't complete both that and my day to day work.
Sometimes I feel that perhaps the sessions could be shorted so that they didn't last over the span of two days as it gets a bit draining having to be on a zoom call for two day straight. However this is greatly helped with interactive tasks that break up the days structure.
I received a great amount of support from my employer, I have always felt like part of the team from day one and have never felt like a nuisance when asking questions and for guidance at the beginning. I also have weekly check ins with my manager and my line manager which make me feel heard and valued.
I receive a moderate amount of training provider support from the one on ones we sometimes have. However I feel this could be improved if at the start of the apprenticeship we had a personal session outlining what we want ti achieve from this experience and mapping out a plan with the training provider as to how to complete this.
I think it makes me develop skills that can be translated into my work place, such as the image creation and marketing module which is directly linked to my role. As well as this, the guest speakers we have in are often very inspiring, which leads me to want to succeed even more int he workpalce.
Yes they are various things avaaible to get involved in. I currently am a member of the Channel 4 book club, in which the group meet about one a month in a pub to have a few drinks and discuss the book we have read. There is also 4earth, which is great group that focuses on environmental change.
Yes
Channel 4 is such an amazing place to work for, they really value their staff and treat them accordingly. My team is made up of a group of lovely individuals who have been extremely welcoming and helpful since day one. This job has already given me so many oppurtiites and is all round great.
Be yourself in the interview process and really get across why it is channel 4 that you want to work for. Explain what you can bring to the business and what makes you stand out from the crowd. Apply for a role that resonates with you as an individual and is something you have a genuine interest in.
