By Designing, selling and discussing our range of products with our customers. This can mean having a 2 hour appointments with customers and discussing our variety of products relating to kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and additional services. we also focus on finance products and building loyalty for our trade customers too.
I have learned to build on my confidence on what i know. Having been a colleague for 5 years, it has given me the incentive to progress. It has validated what i already know by expanding my core knowledge base and understanding of the service provided to our customers. I feel more confident overall about what i do
it was lot more intense that i thought. I enjoyed the engagement and the pace at which the programme went. I had a great working relationship with my tutor and was supported in store to have the necessary work completed. It was very interesting and i enjoyed completing my assesments whether they may be verbal or practical.
I enjoyed the pace, I liked the way it was broken down and explained what was needed to achieve each module. The resources available are really helpful to understand more about each topic too. everything was available at my fingers tips with online forums to talk to other delegates in other business areas.
Support was great from B&Q and i was allowed 1 to 2 hours per week out-with my daily role to complete my assignments. They were very encouraging in store and online. We have ambassadors too who can help and support when further help is needed if you have any questions.
We would have meetings once per month and check in either by email or call. our monthly meeting would either be face to face, by teams, or by phone depending on the content being discussed or what is to be signed off. Lifetime have a great online resources available too.
It has reaffirmed what I do in my role. ill always want validation i do my job well but, this has given me the confidence to believe in myself more. I enjoy coaching and working in roles relating to culture so this has given an opportunity to look into this more for my own development.
at work i am part of the peoples forum which is set up for colleagues to feel safe in their workplace without haveing speak to managers. I'm now apart of the kingfisher affinity network working towards LGBT positive workplaces covering all brands under kingfisher including B&Q, but also across europe.
Yes
B&Q is a very inclusive place, it has a wide array of people who work with them from every background you can think of. they are great at promoting and giving people other avenues to progress within the business, it feels like family and you are always welcomed in.
If you are open minded, postive and hard working then this is the role for you. Be open to change and the company will nourish you no matter who you wish to spend your time working here. I have worked in many businesses but this is by far the best place ive worked.
