  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in Accounts Payable and Tax, my usual day consists of processing invoices, answering customers emails, reconciling statements and assisting my manager with their workload and anything else they need help with.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my public speaking skills throughout the apprenticeship program as well developing my presentation skills as I have had to present in front of other apprentices.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy my programme, Softcat has been very welcoming and supportive to me and Corndel are very helpful when it comes to completing my apprenticeship work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Corndel have created a very well organised programme, we have a 1 to 1 every month which helps us complete our work and lets us ask any questions we need to ask. The group sessions are very informative and helpful in assisting us in developing new skills.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Softcat is very supportive towards me completing my apprenticeship. They have matched me with a previous apprentice who answers all my questions and helps with my work and all my colleagues are more than happy to assist me with anything I need to complete.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Corndel give me a lot of support in completing all my tasks and taking steps towards my qualification as they give me regular 1-to-1s and I can contact them anytime I want and receive any support I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Working towards my qualification has helped me to build my confidence with people and helped me to say no to people when I have too much on my plate. It has also helped with mastering excel, word, powerpoint and outlook which are very important in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am involved in 3 different groups these consist of the film club, the gaming club and the investors club, I will also be trying to get involved in the chess club and the foodies club. There are also lots of sports clubs such as football and cricket.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because everyone is extremely supportive and helpful and make you feel like an important part of the team from the moment you sit down at your desk. The culture is really good and something is always taking place that you can get involved in.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • We are very IT and customer service centred so make sure you have an interest in that. Research the company and its history. Make sure to be yourself, show off who you are and what you can bring to the culture of the company.
