On a day to day my role varies massively. I could be creating bundles for court, counsel or experts. Or i could be instructing experts. Another big part of the role is research which could involving looking at how much a case is worth or researching specifics to the case,
I have learnt a number of new skills. Prior to starting i hadn't learnt law so everything is a new experience to me. But i have also developed existing skills. I have noticed my communication and confidence have improved great amounts even in the short time i have been doing the apprenticeship
i do enjoy the program. It is good to learn whilst you work because they go side by side and it makes it more enjoyable when you have previously learnt something and then you do it in your role and when it all starts to make sense and click into place it is enjoyable
The program has been well organised and structured. There is clear communication and also frequent communication which makes it easier. The people delivering the program know what they are doing aswell which makes it go smoothly. At first the structure takes some getting used to however it is explained welll to you and does make sense
I receive as much support as i need from my employer. I couldnt be happier with the amount of support i have received since starting. Everyone from colleagues to management has been supportive and helped along the way as much as i have needed without it ever feeling like a chore to ask them
Regular support from the training provider is provided. We have regular meetings and they are always available if you ever need something. They review all your work and provide feedback to better support your learning. They make sure you are on top of your work but also help in any areas you feel stuck.
Massively. It helps me to learn the theory behind what we are doing and then i get to go and put it into practice. The qualification through my training provider helps me to better understand certain aspects and in a role that is client facing it helps me to explain things to them better when i understand it.
Yes there are extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. Social activities there is at least 1 a month however this is expected to pick up as we move further away from covid procedure. There are sports teams that are available and networking events are very important so are there for you to put yourself forward for
Yes
Irwin Mitchell is a great place to work with their flexible working policy for one. The ability to work flexibly from home or the office and also to work at different times of the day which are more suitable for your life is a great bonus. It is a friendly working environment that helps to support and develop people
Be yourself and research the company ahead of applying/ interviews. Make sure it is a place that works with your beliefs. But also be prepared to put the effort in to get into the position as they know what kind of person they are looking for when selecting people to join them
