My role as 19th Century British & European Sale Coordinator Apprentice has given me a detailed insight into the innovative auction world. Aspiring to work at Christie’s since a very early age, words cannot express how much receiving the telephone call from HR on an unforgettable afternoon changed my life. Being a part of the Classic Cluster with talented colleagues has opened my eyes to the inspiring horizons at Christie’s. No day is the same and my Monday to Friday involves Sale Coordination responsibilities, assisting with consigning artworks to organising sale administration, arranging shipments. Some of my favourite moments have been shadowing and training within the specialist department.
The skillset I have developed with Christie’s I believe to be life-long, from early training in the sales processes, whether, live, online or private sale. I have an understanding of each team’s crucial involvement within every stage. Christie’s provides opportunities of growth including training sessions and Christie’s Education Courses, enhancing my fascination for the arts.
Every day I am reminded of the privilege, being surrounded by enriching history, magnificent artworks and ever-inspiring voices that contribute so much to the future of Christie’s. Being a close part of the preparations before the auction and post-sale, I am endlessly learning the inner workings of sale-practices. It has been incredibly rewarding to support the Specialist's through my apprenticeship and for the sale day to arrive, the air is always filled with excitement.
Working towards the Business Accelerator Level 3 with Multiverse, there is great structure within the programme. Involving Activate Sessions to learn data content, module overviews with the cohort of apprentices and coaching sessions to review the projects. The programme provides training for navigating beneficial data systems that in turn support my day-to-day tasks. One day each week is dedicated to the Multiverse Apprenticeship, which I feel has equipped me for data driven analysis and reporting.
I receive continuous support from Christie’s towards my Level 3 on a weekly basis, every Thursday afternoon with my Line Manager and monthly meetings. This includes discussing new tasks and responsibilities, overcoming challenges and future possibilities in training. I really appreciate the continuity of having the same colleagues for these support meetings as their experiences working at Chrisite’s always inspires me.
The Multiverse Apprenticeship offers wonderful support, whether organising a meeting for the upcoming module or arranging one-to-one coaching sessions whereby my coach always welcomes questions. Each session consists of setting objectives for the month and reaching targets. The hour is invaluable for guidance and resources.
The Multiverse Apprenticeship demonstrates data-driven courses, supporting my role’s Excel tasks with both training and demonstrations. The Level 3 additionally brings forward discussions regarding refining communications in the workplace and gaining confidence in your ideas.
Christie’s presents events that I look forward to attending, from being present in the live auctions, watching online sales, to assisting with Christie’s Lates. Additionally, the teams use art as a force for good and change in the world with the recent bake sales for worthy, charitable causes.

It is an unparalled experience, to contribute to the leading auction house, being a part of in-house insights and pioneering industry. It is enriching working closely with the artworks and with teams that strive for the same purpose. To be a part of Christie’s is to be a part of it’s one-of-a-kind history.
I believe it is so important to have enthusiasm for the future, Christie’s has changed my life, where my passions are now a part of my day-to-day. Pour your passions into the interview and I wish you the very best of luck!
