I work on behalf of a utility client to detect and liaise with landowners which concern their works. It involves liaising with landowners and land agents, arranging site meetings to discuss any concerns, navigating them through the works, negotiating and providing compensation due to impacts inflicted upon the landowners.
Yes, I've developed my confidence to the ability I am able to approach anybody as well as communicating, negotiating, problem solving, writing and IT. I've learnt how to map efficiently, organise accordingly and balance the responsibility and workload.
I really enjoy my programme. I enjoy the work and I do not feel as if I am treated like a 'usual apprentice' I feel as if I am working like I already have become qualified. My relationship with my team is great and I have been supported hugely.
Very organised. I do not feel rushed to get things completed as everything is recorded and uploaded online. I take one day a week to do my weeks work at university which is plenty. My training provider provides maps and journals of our learning courses to keep us on track.
Lots of support. My employer is very approachable. He ensures that if I do have any worries that I come to him. I can raise any concerns that I have regarding workloads, university, home life, wellbeing etc. Also, there are many departments I can to go within Savills supporting this.
Lots of support. I have a personal mentor with UCEM. I can go to her about anything. One time I was struggling with a law module. She supported me by providing extra support teams and providing courses that would help me raise my marks. I can also have one on ones to my module teachers which I find really useful.
It gives me the relevant basic knowledge within the build industry sector. However, I would like if there was some optional courses that could extend my knowledge further to become even more accurate to the sector I am in. For example, I am in the land and resources sector but learning about real estate. Most things in this are relevant but I would like to know the intricate details about my sector too.
yes there's loads! They have hockey, fotoball, rugby, netball etc. They also hold lots of networking events, recently I went to the apprentice awards and went out for lunch.
Yes
The company looks after it's employees so well especially apprentices. Apprentices in savills are given full support not just in their own teams department but in all. They do not treat their apprentices like the 'usual apprentice' making tea etc. For example, I have been given responsibility in major £40,000,000 utility refurbishment project where I continuously develop and gained skills. My daily interactions with contractors, landowners and land agents furthers my skill even more in confidence, communication and working in a team. I have been an apprentice at Savills for 6 months and have already learnt so much and taken on so much responsibility. It is great to see how much trust is put into the apprentices here. The support I am given is huge which I am so grateful for and the people surrounded by me feel like a second family.
Applying to Savills was the best thing for my career. It has been 6 months since starting and my skills have developed hugely. It has also had an impact on my normal day to day skills non related to my job. My advice would be when applying would be, don't rush your CV and cover letter. Use all the time you have up until the day before the deadline.
