My role in Savills comprises of helping out with the day to day running of a high-street office. This includes managing applicants, aiding with compliance, making and answering phone calls and booking in viewings. I also attend viewings to assist negotiators while I am learning how to conduct them myself.
I have learnt how to answer the phone and take details from applicants. As well as this I have further developed my other client facing skills such as confidence on viewings and professional email structuring. On top of this I have developed my knowledge of the local area and general property market which helps me to answer customer questions quickly and efficiently.
I really enjoy my programme as everybody in my office is helpful, friendly and welcoming and I feel like I am making good progress in my course. I also enjoy my training with the other apprentices all of the country as it is nice to meet people my age at Savills and I have made great friends.
I believe my programme is very well organised with a day set out each week dedicated to study. We then work and learn on the job 4 days a week and attend a monthly workshop in London with our training provider TACS which is very well structured and planned out.
I receive lots of support from my employer. I am given a decided mentor who I can get help from when I need it as well as having weekly catch ups with my line manager to review my progress and see where I can improve. I also have had meetings with my divisional HR person who can also help with any issues.
My training provider supports me and the other apprentices well. We communicate frequently and easily with our teacher via email and WhatsApp and we can always give him a ring with any queries we might have. We also have a group chat on WhatsApp set up by our provider with all of the apprentices in my cohort and our provider.
My qualification will help me in my role as we cover a range of modules which are all relevant. These are both to do with the knowledge I gain and can then provide to customers and also professionalism and etiquette which is important in any professional role i may take on.
There are plenty of sports teams and social activates available to me. I have also attended a number of proffesional networking events some which have a range of offices, some regional and some for associate and staff level employees only to reduce the pressure of more senior colleagues being there.
Yes
I would recommend Savills and particularly my course to a friend because it gives you a good opportunity to get into one of the largest and most premium estate agencies in the country. As well as this because Savills is so large there is the opportunity to progress or move and work abroad.
When applying to Savills a person should be honest, smart and respectful in the interviews. The focus should not be on what Savills can offer but rather what you can offer the company in terms of maintaining the reputation and willingness to learn. You should also make it clear why you want to work for Savills and what other parts of the business you are interested in / have researched.
