On usual day to day i support the team of surveyors I have been assigned to, I am responsible for some client reports and providing feedback to the team on the performance of the properties we manage in different categories.
My ability to interpret data has improved, I have gained a great professional awareness and my time management skills are greatly improved
I really enjoy the programme, the work is very varied and so I get a great variety of experience, everyone I work with is very helpful and always happy to answer any questions I may have. There are a variety of ages in the team which is good for socialising.
The programme is very well structured especially around those of us who work alongside the degree, work grants us one day a week to catch up on lectures and do the university work we are set for that week, the course is well organised and we have regular catch ups.
The support from my employee is fantastic, there are lots of different people in the office who form your support network so you always have someone to talk to. The central team are also good at signposting and reaching out for any avenues of support you may need. The business is very accommodating and wants to help its employees reach their potential.
The training provider gives us a good level of support with regular opportunities to speak to lectures if you are struggling with the content. They also set up forums so you can converse with your piers about the module and help each other with any questions you may have. The provider signposts support well and sends regular emails of who to contact if you need support.
the qualification I am undertaking has been greatly beneficial to my role in the business it has provided me with a greater awareness of the industry and knowledge of what is involved in the day to day work I undertake. It will also allow me to take the APC to become a qualified chartered surveyor.
There are lots of extra curricular activities to get involved in. I have found the most useful to be the professional networking events that are held by different property firms in the city. It gives you a good chance to meet and catch up with those who are in a similar position to you but in a different firm, creating contacts for the rest of your career.
Yes
Savills, in my experience has been a very welcoming company and has made me feel like my contributions are recognised and appreciated. The office structure enables you to converse with senior members of the team and there are great opportunities for career development if you are willing to take them.
My advice would be to really show your enthusiasm for a career in property, do some research on the market and find something that is of interest to you. Think of some pertinent questions to ask if you get the chance to have an interview, to show you are serious about the position. Research Savills specifically and see what sets them apart from other companies and how you would be a good addition to the team. Let your personality speak for you and don't try and pretend to be someone you are not because you think that is what the employer wants to see
