My role involves working alongside the commercial legal department. This ranges from supporting them through producing research notes, communication with internal clients, or reading through and editing contracts/agreements. Every day the work varies greatly. Sometimes there will be more of an academic focus, whereas other days there will be a focus on meetings.
My communication skills have improved massively. This is due to the requirement to present key findings back to my team and also communicate with internal clients. My legal research and drafting skills have also massively improved. This is because I am tasked with finding out information on a wide array of relevant issues
I really enjoy my programme and would definitely recommend it. It has been a great experience thus far and I would certainly say I have become so much more well-rounded than just doing the traditional University route of education. It has been great learning from those higher up in my team too.
My programme is over 6 years, which is evidently a considerable amount of time. It is very well structured though, as I spend one day per week (currently on a Friday) studying towards my university degree and the other four days a week working with my team. I am currently doing three university modules per year.
I receive a lot of support from my line manager, early careers team and my company/HR in general. This is great because there is certainly a lot to take on with this particular apprenticeship. I receive weekly and monthly calls to check on my progress and ensure I am keeping on top of my academic work and my general workload.
I receive a lot of support my my university/ training provider. There are weekly drop in sessions and they are available to contact by email. Moreover, with university lectures every week, it means I can always ask questions then. The feedback from modules and assessments is always very detailed and clear too.
The law qualification that I am working towards really helps my role because the modules often coincide with the particular department you are in (for example studying contract law whilst in the commercial legal team). Through learning key skills such as presenting with university, it really helps when my workplace requires me to complete similar tasks.
The company I work for has many different extra-curricular activities to be a part of. Particularly the 'power-hours' which help introduce you to key concepts and ideas. There are also town halls which helps you to get to know those at the top of the company and get key updates.
Yes
I would certainly recommend TUI to a friend. This is because it has a great culture and the flexible work policy really suits me seen as though I currently live a significant distance from the office. TUI have taken on many apprentices over different sectors in my cohort which is also great.
I would certainly recommend really learning about the company in detail before any interviews or assessment centres. This is because TUI have a huge focus on what makes them unique and it is really important to learn about this and see if it is the right place for you to work.
