  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I support my line manager as well as taking on my own tasks in the accounting department. I take up roles from tagging invoices with dates and references, posting journals and reconciling and producing balance sheets. Within my team I get lots of opportunities to support my wider team in other roles and to gather understanding of different areas of the team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • One new skill I have learnt is my financial programmes skills. I have learnt from the base how to run downloads on SAP, find invoices and upload a variety of different journals. I have also had a great opportunity to develop my excel skills, learning new functions, formulas and general understanding of the programme. Within my team, I have had lots of opportunities to develop both communication and team work skills as well as having the opportunity to present in front of small groups my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Having started my apprenticeship 6 moths ago, I am really finding myself enjoying my work. Coming into the apprenticeship I was unsure on how much responsibility and ownership of work I would get. However, through the help of my team I have already taken on full responsibilities of certain areas of our day to day work. As well as this, I have found myself really enjoying the content covered in the studying with being able to apply this instantly into my day to day work as it is all relevant to what I am doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised and structured, giving me a great work/study balance. With my college taking up two mornings a week, it gives me a great opportunity to not overload myself with studying whilst managing my work. As well as this, having the programme spaced out over 2 mornings allows me to follow up on any misunderstandings and recap on information learnt before starting the next session

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer give me a great wide variety of support. From my line manager to my wider team, to people in the Early Talent team there is always somebody there offering their support. In my team, I always have my manager there willing to answer any queries/questions or just any general information that I require. The early talent team are always there whether that to help with my course or answer any study relating queries I might have.

  • my training provider offer a wide range of support when working towards my qualification. My out of college tutor is always there to follow up on any misunderstandings I have from the college sessions and is willing to recap and go through again anything I don't understand. As well as this they provide great feedback on any assignments/practice questions I do and help to go through the correct answers

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification that I am working towards goes hand in hand with my role that I am currently in. I am able to apply what I am learning in college into my role. This has benefited me as its broadened my understanding and allowed me to take on more tasks as my knowledge is greater.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend TUI to a friend for a lot of different reasons. One main reason for this would be because of the people within the business. There is a fun, friendly culture within TUI with many different people from different backgrounds who all have a different story to tell. As well as this, working within one of the biggest travel companies is great as it has widened my knowledge of the travel industry and has given me a different perspective on travel.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • One key bit of advice I would give to others applying at TUI is to be yourself. A key element and a reason why I am enjoying my role is that I am able to bring my personality and character to the work place, as well as being able to work with people doing the same.
