My job role is an administrator for the B&Q darnley hub. It is to help over see the digital store to home hub which involves many tasks to help aid store deliveries across van , dpd and bulk deliveries and make sure the customers recieve their items in a satisfactory manner
I have learned many skills in my 3 years of working in this role. Working within a team i have learned how to deal with many sitiations and experiences that evolve and change on a day to day basis such as working within a time limit, working under preassure to meet deadlines to assure all my work is done for each day
I enjoy my programme alot. i joined the B&Q 3 years ago and have mostly stayed within the same role so my motivation to do the apprentiship was to learn different areas of not only my role but retail in general so the apprentiship helps with this as it has opened my mind to other possibilities in my work area
The programme is well structured as it is divided in seperate categories and they are all varied which can help me to learn more about different parts of the business. I have plenty of time and resources to help with this programme and a good trainer if i am not sure on a certain aspect
My employer has been great in giving me the free time and support to help me work on my apprentiship. My manager in particuluar is full of knowledge so i can easily gain help from him and learn more about the different roles he has worked in his b&q career
I recieve a lot of support from my training provider, My trainer has provided many resources internal and external which can help give me the extra knowledge on how to approach certain tasks and objectives, The personal development plan helps a lot as it can map out my short term and long term career goals
The qualifiction and apprentiship in general helps me perform better in my role as i can use the knowledge and skills i gain in every visit to help in my day to day role. I believe it helps me perform better in my role as i can approach any situation with that extra care
As my department is very team work oriented it is key that there is activities that can help the team members have a better relationship with each other and trust so it can help with work related issues. An example is playing football at the weekend as it can help each colelague get along better with each other
Yes
I would recommend B&Q to all my friends and family as it is a company that is heading in the right direction with its digital future and the amount of oppertunities that can arise from any job role. all the colleagues and managers are very friendly that can help with any issue that can make working here a pleasure
My advice and tips i would give others when applying to b&q is to be yourself and to relax in the interview process as most managers are very down to earth and very friendly. It is also important to ask questions to make sure the job role is correct for you
