I am a senior insight analyst. On a day to day basis I produce reporting for the business which helps steer them in the right direction. I use power BI and SQL to bring together information such as data extracts, interactive reports and provide advice and support for decision making.
I've learnt more about why to do things. In addition to this I have learnt new skills, such as python for importing data, how to write SQL code and interrogate data in database, and learnt how they are structured, and also use power BI to import data and create reports.
It's a mixed bag. Learning the skills has been great, it has all been relevant to my role and I use a lot of it on a day to day basis. I did not enjoy the assessments, as I enjoy doing the work better than reviewing it afterwards. It's also been challenging due to restructuring in the workplace.
There was a clear structure to the whole programme, with everything mapped out from start to finish, with modules structured well. Support from my DLC from QA was excellent, without their support I would not have been able to do it (thanks Ron!). There has also been good flexibility when I've experience challenges.
My line manager has been excellent. He has consistently offered advice and support and encouraged me to learn and get what I need to do done for the apprenticeship. He has valued what I have learnt and encouraged me to share that within my team also. There have been times where I have had time issues due to the volume of work that needs to be done, but my manager has supported me.
Plenty of resources have been provided, including those integrated into their online platform. My Digital Learning Consultant has been excellent, providing me with regular catch ups to check in and keep me on track for delivery, encouraging me when I have faltered at points throughout the programmes duration. Thanks again!
It's helped me immensely. I had little experience of writing SQL prior to the apprenticeship. I am now using it almost every day. Power BI is the platform of choice for my business, so I use those skills every day too. I wouldn't be able to do my role as I do now without the training.
There's plenty of networking activities put on regularly by my work. Opportunities to network across the industry and even across different parts of the business due to it being such a large varied organisation. Social activities are also put on within the segment I work in, in order to encourage people to get to know each other to enable us to work better together.

Salaries are competitive, it provides secure jobs with clear opportunities for progression if you are willing to put the work in to improve yourself, increase your skillset and put yourself out there. I've done that since I joined E.ON in 2014 and I've transformed my working life in those 8/9 years.
Take some time to understand the energy industry and what E.ON's part of it is. Think about what the challenges are in the industry at this point in time, and what the opportunities are also. If you are able to think about that then you will be able to align yourself with E.ON's plans over the medium to long term. Have a positive mindset and a determination to improve yourself also.
