My role involves preparing a third party logistics site for an upcoming site classification assessment. I currently work on one of the 13 metrics for the assessment each day. Every day, I also endeavor to work on university assignments enhancing my knowledge and understand of the supply chain and logistics industry.
I have learnt new skills and completed training in relevant areas. However, admittedly my progress has stagnated for a while however, the university aspect has provided me lots of learning opportunities. Recently I have been working on designing a warehouse and learning more about all the functions involved in the creation and running of a site.
I am enjoying the program. I feel that it will provide me with lots of opportunities to grow in the future. I have found my company very supportive and engaged with the program although perhaps since it is a relatively new apprenticeship there are things that still need fine tuning. I think soon thanks to the university progression plan I will begin learning and working on more functions within the company to expand my existing knowledge.
I do have a clear structure now as a result of the university having us complete a learning development plan in conjunction with our mentors on site. However, prior to this I feel that my learning has been stagnant for a while. However, the company are engaged with the program and the plan is for me to get different opportunities soon.
My employer is supportive. As previously stated since the program is relatively new it has not been something that has been done before. However, I do believe my employer does engage with the program when I notify them of anything to do with university requirements, meetings or questions about an assignment etc.
I feel that the university support us very well on the apprenticeship through both campus lectures and weekly sessions once per week. Also, I have found them very helpful to talk to and discuss any questions about the apprenticeship or anything on the assignments we are set. We also have a university mentor which I find useful.
I feel that the knowledge gained from the training provider teaches me greater knowledge at this stage and allows me to pick up on things within my workplace that I previously wouldn't have known. Additionally, I find the work more in depth and challenging which I enjoy since I am learning. These skills can be applied to areas of my work even if it is through conversation with another employee or presenting ideas.
My company do hold networking days where I have had the chance to meet senior members of the company. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to go on training days at the UK head office which I have found useful. My site also does quiz nights for example providing a social activity.
Yes
Company that is very supportive and will provide you with lots of opportunities to grow and develop. All staff that I have encountered have been friendly and if I have had any questions have also wanted to support me. This has helped me improve and feel comfortable in my work while embarking on the degree apprenticeship.
Come in with an open mind, ready to learn. There are lots of different opportunities, departments and functions within CEVA so I believe there really is something for everybody. The CEVA network is very supportive and will be there to help you and in time I believe it can lead to a very rewarding fruitful career path.
