Within my role, what I do on a day to day basis largely depends on the client engagement Im currently working on. But usually, its a mix of stand-up meetings with the PwC team, control design walkthroughs with clients, documenting both control testing and understanding and the odd company/business unit wide meeting. Every day is varied but theres will always be something to do,
Absolutely, as part of my training agreement I am studying towards the ACA accounting qualification and I am also training towards being a Chartered Auditor. I had zero accounting knowledge before I started the apprenticeship and now Im close to qualifying with useful knowledge. In parallel to that, more than 20% of my time is dedicated to Audit training which is pre-booked into my diary and follows a set schedule inline with my promotion path. Ive improved in my writing and communication skills owing to the large amount of documentation and meetings held,
I dont think I could enjoy it more or even have a complaint. Ive not had a single bad experience in the ~2 years Ive been PwC, everyone has been lovely. The program itself is demanding but rewarding at the same time. All of the training and studying is booked into you diary so there's no stress in organising time, rather just turning up and committing. This has made it very enjoyable.
Very well organised, all my client engagement, training and studying is pre-booked and managed by the resourcing team. Any amendment that I need to make are communicated to the team who will action them. Before I commence an type of work, I will be contacted by the manager/in-charge who will onboard me. This applies to client work , audit training and studying session.
As much as I need. I had a child towards the start of my apprenticeship and it has been quite a difficult journey due to illness. PwC have been more than accommodating in my apprenticeship, allowing me to defer exams and work from home more than the official stated guidelines. I have a career coach, group leader and first five years leader who I can contact in case of any issues. In my experience, they take an issue seriously and will do everything they can to accommodate. In my specific situation, I was given extra consideration at yearly review, in exam performances and work performances due to my needs,
All the required study time/college time is pre-booked into my diary and is protected time which means it is more important than client work. I have open access to the tutors and the PwC liaison for each stage of the apprenticeship. I also meet regularly with my apprenticeship coach who guides me through whats required of me.
Yes, accounting is useful to audit work and so by working towards the qualification, I have better understood the work I currently do. The principle learnt can be applied to audit work to enhance understanding and knowledge. Also, the logical reasoning learnt from the qualification also helps to aid audit work.
Theres is a group for most things and if not, you are able to create one. There are monthly social events for the business unit, sports teams such as football, netball, rock climbing, polo and more. The events and groups are advertised on a common space and take place after work and sometime as meetings during working hourse. The firm also encourages people to take part in the One Firm One Day programme where employees volunteer a day of their time to an approved charty/organisation. This is open to everyone.
Yes
There's great progression, the promotion process is very transparent, the work is world-class, you'll be surrounded by amazing people and they encourage flexible working so it will suit any needs you have in your personal life. The coffee is also free and office is beautifully designed with most having their own cafes.
- Be genuine - Put in effort - Focus on how you meet the firms development framework or working towards it
