My day to day role involves serving customers on the till, making sure they receive the best possible experience that I can provide. When there are no customers, I would clean the till and surroundings, making sure the bags are stacked neatly. When I am not on the till, I help with putting out stock, dealing with ubereat orders, or facing up the shop
While while on apprentiship I have developed my customer service skills, learnt how to better interact with my customers, along with learning how to use the stores HHTs to do more tasks. Another skill that I have is to use my initiative more when it is quiet, so such as cleaning around the till to make it presentable, helping putting out stock if it nearby the till.
SO far I will say that I am enjoying the programme, greatly as it both refreshing knowledge that I already have, as well as teaching me new skills. It also started to get me to ask questions at work, when I do not understand something, or wanted to know something new.
My programme is well structured, it is laidout in an easy to understand way, along with the ability to do various different tasks in the store in increase my knowledge of how it operates. I have support from both my manager and my lifetime coach. The online learning is also easy to understand and follow when doing it.
I feel like I receive great support from my manager, deputy manager and team leaders when I am doing my training. They are often willing to explain to me anything I do not understand, along with going through the skill radar, at time prompting me for answers, along with helping me by guiding me to an answer when I know what it is, but not how to explain it.
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider, when working towards my qualifications. She is always willing to book in a learning session if I get stuck on questions, or if I need something explain futher, I can leave a message on aptem system, and she would get back to me normally with in a day.
I feel that the qualification that I am working towards is helping my to perform my role at work better, as it is creating a wonderful base of leanring, teaching me various methods on how to deal with different types of people, along with making me more aware of various laws and requirments when preforming different jobs in my work place.
There is not often many extra-curricular activites at work to get involved in. By some times throught out the year we do have social evenings, where we go out and do something. such as going bowling at the local bowling rink, or last year we went to see Jason Manford at the local theatre, but before that we went out of an indian meal.

I would recommend working for Iceland/Food Warehouse to a friend, as there is always a change to progress within the company. You have flexible working, with often chances for overtime, to cover holidays, staff illness, or when it gets busy. You are treated with respect, and if you show your self willing, you can be offered a change to do the apprenticship which can help you progress within the company.
When you are going to apply for a job at Iceland or Food Warehouse, I would recommend popping down to the store to have a look around, so you know what, and where it is, along with what type of work you could expect. Maybe even talk to a few of the staff, so you can gain an insight to the company. Another tip, take your time when doing the online questions after you sent in you appication, for these are important.
