  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a BA Apprentice so I work within project teams to solve business issues. This is done by eliciting requirements, engaging with various stakholders and carrying out a range of analysis. It focuses largely on problem-solving and communication skills. I attend weekly meetings to catch up with the team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have gained on my communication skills. This is because I have to engage with many stakeholders within a vareity of business teams as they all have contribution and interest in the project. It is important to understand how to engage with these stakeholders effectively. Time management is also a big skill which has been developed in the role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as I have already learned so many skills and developed a lot of confidence within the role. Being a BA can also be fast pace at times which I enjoy as I like the excitement. However, it can be intense as being new to the BA world there is a lot to learn so hopefully my knowledge and confidence continues to grow.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is quite well structured in the sense that we have a proposed timeline of when differest aspects of the apprenticeship should be completed by and when we attend our additional training courses etc. It could be more organised in the sense that sometimes apprentices are given different info from others form their learning mentors so a bit consistency would be good.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get so much support from both my in work mentor and line manager. They fully understand what I need to achieve in this apprenticeship and ensure that I am put onto projects/tasks which will really excel my learning. My line manager is also really supportive of me in terms of additional learning/taking part in events so I always feel encouraged to do my best.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider do provide support when needed. We have occasional catch ups and meetings with out training mentors so that is a way we can disucss any issues or concerns. My mentor is alwayys quick to reply to me but I have seen that other mentors who work for the training provider are really slow and hard to speak to so I think I got lucky with mine.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So within my programme, we complete 4 additional courses where we receive extra qualifications. This is funded by the training provider/company so is a great way to stand out when going forward with your career. These courses also help with the BA course itself as they provide extra knowledge.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of additional activities you can take part in. For example, I have become an apprenticeship ambassador which means I can attend careers fairs at schools, speak to young students and keep up to date with what is going on in the apprenticehsip world. I have also been involved in the production of tech events.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • LBG is such a great place to work as there is alwyas opportunity to do better and work on your self development. My line manager is amazing and she encourages me to try out different things and get invovled with as much as I can so that I get the most out of the apprtenticeship programme.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • It is important to be aware and undertsand the LBG values. This is because the job roles will always align to these in some way or another. LBG also recruit based on your own strengths and what you can bring to the role as it is an inclusive organisation so would deffo recommend.
