In my job, I am learning how to look after children and how to effectively help them advance on their progression and development. The children at the nursery are between the ages of eight months old and four years old. The age I most frequently work with is one year to 2 years old.
Through my new job, I have really progressed in my confidence. I am finding that I am a lot more outspoken and willing to try new things. I have also learnt new things such as CPR and chocking training which could help me all throughout my life, not just at work.
Since starting my new job, I have loved every single day that I have been in work. I have found that this is making me as a person a lot more happy inside and outside of work. My colleagues and the children I work with are all really welcoming and kind.
My programme is very well structured. All my apprenticeship activities are clearly led out for me on bud (my college system) and they all have clear instructions and helpful links and PowerPoints attached. I can also email my tutor anytime I am confused and she replies asap which is usually within an hour.
My employer and colleagues all help me throughout my day by advising me if I need any help or am unsure of what I am doing or if I'm doing right. They also give me help with my paperwork when needed, but so far I've not needed all too much as my paperwork is clearly written what I have to do.
My training provider gives me feedback on all work I submit and we also have a call/meeting every two to three weeks. I have emailed her a few times when stuck and need some advice but all work she sets me she clearly explains what I need to do in the activity so its easier for me to understand straight away.
My qualification through paragon (NVQ level 3 in childcare) helps me to better understand all the roles and responsibilities of my job. Knowing all the theory behind what I do at work makes it a lot easier to physically do it on a day to day basis at my job.
Since starting my job there has been a few social events, we've also had group training/team building activities. We have taken part in a few children in need and world book day activities as a group also. There is some social activities listed on our notice board as well.
Yes
I would definitely recommend childcare to a friend because the atmosphere and the children and my colleagues are all so inviting and including. They make coming to work fun and enjoyable and I genuinely love my job because of it. Everyone is also so helpful regarding my apprenticeship work too.
When applying to childcare and starting your job, don't be worried that your colleagues will judge you if you don't know something or if you do something wrong or need help. No one minds helping you out and they are all so lovely about it there's no need to be embarrassed.
