I am a Marketing Apprentice at Softcat. I work as the admin backbone for my team, and shadow the different departments within the Marketing team. I also get to speak to Vendors and help plan/attend big events that allow me to network.
I have learnt how to manage my time effectively, which helps me get my work done to a high standard. I have also learnt how to grow my networks and speak to people internally and externally to a professional standard.
I have really enjoyed my time at Softcat so far. I have been pushed out of comfort zone, which is challenging, but also have been really beneficial for my personal development within my career. Overall this has been a positive experience that I look forward to continuing.
In terms of my training programme, I think it is well structed. We have weekly tasks we need to complete, plus workshops we do in person or over teams. I think having the in person workshops really help us be more interactive, this is my preferred way of learning.
My manager and team are extremely supportive of me within my role. I feel as if I can talk to anyone if I have any questions, which is extremely important to me. My manager supports me in my apprentice work and makes sure not to overload me with work.
Corndel are very helpful and easy to reach. When I have a problem or a question I have no hesitation to reach out for help. The one to one sessions are very effective for me as I can go through my weekly tasks with them and receive advice.
Going through my training programme alongside working helps me understand factors of my job not I may not know about. It also allows me to share some of these tools I've learnt with my team.
Yes, there is loads of groups you can join at Softcat. Currently I am not apart of one of these groups, but I am interested in joining Women in Business and the Pride Network.
