I deal with providing customers that reach their nominated retirement date and are looking to claim their pension to start receiving a retirement income. It is my job to provide them quotations for Annuities with what they could expect to receive as a guaranteed income payable for the rest of their life.
Doing the apprenticeship definitely made me realise the importance of different communications and the reason we may use each one differently. I developed a lot of existing skills I had like prioritising tasks as within my team we can get escalation requests and I pick up tasks other colleagues do in their absence.
I did have fun doing my apprenticeship, my trainer was great. It was nice to have additional work to do alongside the usual day to day I was doing. I finished my apprenticeship quite eager to go and do another to learn more valuable tasks that I can incorporate to my job.
It was quite structured, I'm an organised person and I like to know when I'll be doing things and when I have to have certain tasks completed so we had monthly catch ups scheduled, I had time set aside during the week to work on anything I needed to get done.
My employer was very supportive. Over the course of my apprenticeship I worked in 3 different teams (3 different managers) who were all very accomodating with the extra learning task I had signed up for. I had time set aside for during the week so I had time to complete any tasks I had outstanding.
My training provider was great, i had a very supportive trainer who had monthly catch ups scheduled in to go through anything I had to complete. She was always on hand in case I had any queries. She was so easy to talk with and supported me through the whole journey.
As previously mentioned, completing the apprenticeship definitely helped strengthen skills I already had and use at work on a daily business. It also brought great insight into things I had never thought of before, I paid much attention to. Like the reasons we use different forms of communication and about the way we portray ourselves can impact the impressions we give to other people.
My business area have a lot of different communities you can get involved in at work, these all focus on different aspects of our business. Such as people, finance and colleague engagement. They're always looking for people to get involved and participate fresh ideas on how we can improve the work place and colleague satisfaction.
Yes
I've been in the business for almost 10 years and I've never had to complain once. The colleagues you work with soon become your friends, the support they give you when learning something new or just when you seek reassurance is great. My managers have always been supportive in my development, even if that meant new career goals. The benefits associated with working at LBG are great as well, great pension scheme and rewards system.
Be yourself, show willingness to learn, adapt and be flexible. It's an ever changing enviroment (for the better), as they're always looking to improve. Always approach work with a positive attitude, ask for help when needed and it'll always be given. There's so much room for growth
