As a Cost Consultancy Apprentice I spend my day shadowing members of my team as well as carrying out roles throughout the life cycle of projects including: chairing meetings, using BIM/CostX/CAD to measure buildings, updating trackers, communicating with project stakeholders, conducting monthly valuations, processing interim payments, completing cost forecasts/estimates, managing change/variations and completing cost reports.
I enjoy getting to know the job role more as the month's have gone by as well as picking up more technical tasks.
It's well organised via the Mace Emerging talent team who provide an excellent line of communication between themselves and the apprentices.
I have received a lot of support from the emerging talent team, my line-manager, senior-manager and colleagues in ensuring I am up-to-date with the project's I'm working on and generally getting me involved with projects.
They aim to ensure that I understand the fundamentals of cost consultancy/quantity surveying from building technology all the way to measuring and costing.
There are several opportunities to get involved in at work from small office gatherings/teams to apprentice-wide focus groups.

I'd recommend Mace due to the ability to work alongside with technically proficient professionals who are willing and able to assist you in your growth to become Chartered.
Be yourself and be confident in your abilities.
