My role involves helping my audit team for that week with the job at hand or any other outstanding jobs the manager might need a hand on. I now have a fair bit of experience in casting, detail testing and sampling. Everyday I try to learn a few extra skills.
So far I've learnt a whole lot about what it means and entails to be an auditor but the skill that's seen the biggest increase in competency is my excel proficiency. Having spent most of each day using many excel documents at once an analysing data I now feel I'm at a much more advanced excel skill level.
I really enjoy work. I like to be kept busy and challenged, both of which are components of the programme. I'm learning a lot about the ins and outs of companies and how they all tick, with different systems, processes and formalities while generally adhering to a similar set of rules.
The learning is fairly intense, and when it's combined with a full days work it can feel overwhelming. I've found that once you put in the hours it is a very rewarding role and you can see active, rapid and valuable progression in your capabilities, confidence and skill set.
While I don't feel like I've need a huge amount of support, Crowe have made it clear who we can talk to and that any time we feel we should need it they're there to help. We also have regular meetings with managers to discuss our progress.
I have scheduled calls with my training manager who discusses how my progression's going, how I feel about the role and how well I'm coping. They're also there to help with any queries I have. We also have regular online tasks to keep track of my learning and progression
While I firmly believe actual practice and on the job learning is where I've learnt and developed the most by a long way I can't disregard the foundations set down by my provider. Exams and personal reviews are both a great way to test my development and have a space to reflect.
The firm have a trainee Netball league. Not only is it a great form of exercise but it's a great way to meet colleagues you may never have got the chance to meet. We also go for drinks after and i believe that forming close bonds wit colleagues is mutually beneficial for us and the company.
Yes
Overall it's a great place to work. We work hard but in a really great office with fantastic people and a great atmosphere. Everyone is really friendly and I'm yet to meet someone who isn't up for a chat or is reluctant to help when your stuck.
If your going for the role make sure you're ready to put the work in- it's not easy. But be ambitious and if you think the job's not within your reach, give it a go and present an honest version of yourself and see where it gets you, you may surprise yourself.
