  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves going on site to companies to check their financial records and that they are appropriate, and if not, to find out why. I don't have too much responsibility so it is just doing odd jobs from others to help out any outstanding things they have left.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The main skill I have learned would be using Microsoft excel to a higher level, this is used everyday so having knowledge is essential, my communication skills have also been developed, you are talking with clients frequently representing the company, so you have to present yourself in a manner which suits.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is very intense to say the least, it requires studying for exams and working your full time job at once. I enjoy the study programme as it is very challenging and I like that aspect. The job itself not so much. It can be too demanding and left in the dark.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is quite well structured, ahead of exams we will get a couple of days off work to study for too which is helpful for preparation. There is times with BPP however where you have to add and update certain schedules but isn't always communicated down to us

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Like in my previous answer, we are given a couple of study leave days before an exam which is useful to cram in as much as we can before the exam. Sometimes we ca be expected to stay until after 5 which isn't helpful when we have to revise in evenings.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider help with booking my exams for me and giving lectures to prepare for the exams. They also have a cool website which allows us to revise by watching videos attempting practise questions and even mock tests for us to have a go at and see our progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • From my short time at my job in KPMG, I am yet to actually find any relevance between my studies and the job. This has been quite unfortunate as I do struggle with the job itself at times due to a lack of training, it is all learn on the job

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No not really, the office I am at (Liverpool) offers a couple of socials from time time, but nothing like sports activities, when I look at the other offices such as Manchester, Leeds and London it seems from the outside they have a lot more going for them social wise

    3/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it's a difficult question to answer as knowing my friends they do not have the work ethic that it takes to make it at a company like KPMG, however I do believe that there are people I would recommend the business to as with the right attitude you can thrive

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would make sure that they are focused and know what they want for their career, this is a time consuming job throughout the best years of our lives whilst we are young. I wouldn't want anyone to make that commitment and not see it through to reap the rewards
