Design and redesign features and components for the website. Analyse, design and redesign the current user journey. Update the design system. Conduct research with customers and non-customers to validate new designs as well as criticising and finding pain points in the current design / flow / user experience of the end user.
As I had no knowledge nor experience on the field of user experience design before I joined the program and the company, I have learnt many new skills, from hard to soft skills (presentation and software for design, but also for everyday things like keeping up with the developers work).
The Apprenticeship in User Experience Design has allowed me to start in the User Design world by having an introduction of everything that involves the user and their connection with products. While I learn more from work than what I do in my lessons, it is good to have an idea of the background of what I apply.
I would not say thay my program is well organised or structured. This is only the 3rd year that the program exists and it feels that lecturers have not figured out how much time we need for pre-reading and how much time classes take. So there is loads of pre reading and not enough class content.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have never felt rushed to do or finish things, and if something is required urgently, someone jumps in the project to help out and get it finished before the deadline. They also have no issues with my compulsory study time.
Whenever I ask any questions about what I am doing for my assignment, I get support in the form of advice, links to helpful websites with information or courses about what I need to learn to be able to apply it. As said before, they also leave me plenty of time to do courses.
As mentioned in a previous response, I do not feel that what I learn when I attend classes is something that I am applying in my workplace. I am required to do more advanced things for work purposes that I have not yet been taught in any class of the programme (at least for now).
There is a football team that get together to play every Wednesday, as well as a walking club to go for a walk during lunch breaks. We also have the option to join focus groups to speak to customers while attending the events that are showcased on the company website.
Yes
Tote Group is a great place to work. Not only does the company reward staff with free lunch or activities, it provides training when required. The team that I work with is small, which allows me to learn about all the different parts of the product. And I Iove that.
Go for it. It is a good company to work for, with some benefits that you would not find in other companies. While being a gambling company, they do everything they can so customers bet safely and provide tools and contacts for those who may require help. Overall highly recommended
