  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The team I am currently situated in is Asset and Liability Management (ALM) risk. My day to day role consists of updating spreadsheet regards mortgages, savings accounts and loans. Depending of the time of the month my work differs as we wait for data from other teams which can lead to periods where its pretty quite. Overall ALM is a very interesting team and i'm very happy to have started in this team for my first rotation

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills such as updating and working with excel spreadsheets. within my team we use something called hypercube which helps us generate data. learning that was really cool. I've also learnt how to present more effectively now. some teams have the opportunity to present PowerPoints to other teams in your areas or senior stakeholders which can be nerve raking but a good experience.

  • I really enjoy the apprenticeship progamme with Barclays, there are a lot of ongoing activities and events held for early careers sector within Barclays which consist of Graduates, apprentices and interns. My cohort had the opportunity to go to the Barclays headquarters based down in London in Canary Wharf for a networking event. which was really helpful and exciting as we got to meet other grads and apprentice from all other locations such as Manchester, Northampton, London, Glasgow and more.
