An overview of my role is providing assurance for the bank through testing different areas of the business in audits. On a day to day basis my job consists of joining daily standups to discuss work progress, engaging with stakeholders and using systems such as excel and Microsoft Teams to talk to my team.
I have learnt lots of new skills since joining Barclays in August 2022. Some of those skills include learning to code with python for use of data analytics to ensure accurate testing and Excel skills such as a V lookup to compare 2 sets of data in a spread sheet.
I enjoy the programme a great deal. Since joining in August 2022 everyone on my team has been very helpful in getting me settled in and setting up for success in my role. The fellow apprentices are nice and we meet for lunch occasionally which is nice and relaxed which is nice.
The programme is very organised. The programme organisers are very help ful and accomodating for me and my fellow apprentices. They set up lots of trainings for us to develop our skills in many different areas of the business and towards our objectives and qualifications we are aiming to achieve.
My employer provides lots of support for me and my fellow apprentices. My employer has a whole team focused on early careers that set up regular meetings and trainings to ensure that we have no problems in our roles and that we are constantly upskilling ourselves and offer us opportunities.
My training provider provides me with lots of support. I have a designated Talent coach that sets up meetings every 6 weeks to discuss progress on the apprenticeship. My coach sets me tasks to ensure I am keeping up to date with the apprentice work that we are given to complete.
The apprenticeship qualification has helped me to perform better in my role. The trainings that we complete through the apprenticeship are targeted at the type of work we complete on a day to day basis. This has led to a better knowledge of internal audit and helps me in my role.
There are many opportunities for extra-curricular activities. For example, there is a free gym in the office building which is a nice distraction from the day or a good way to end the day. There are lots of employee resource groups which set up various events for employees throughout the year.

The bank is very multi-cultural which makes it a nice place to work. The employees are all very friendly and willing to help, this spans across all corporate levels. They offer lots of opportunities to speak out and have your opinion heard. The work- life balance is very relaxed and accomodating.
Take your time with the application. The role is very competitive and not many people get recruited. Make sure you think about your answers and prepare correctly. Find out what form of interview you will be completing and make sure to find practice questions and practice with friends and family.
