I work mainly on the click and collect desk giving customers orders to them , helping on the self service tills and doing orders for customers. I also do pricing which involves putting prices up and down which is a very important role as it needs to be done correctly for customers benefit.
I have learned new things and technology is always changing so am still learning new things. The apprenticeship helped me to understand things better and why we do certain things. I did start a new job role but was taken away and put back into my old role but the pricing is a new role and i enjoy it.
I enjoyed the apprenticeship because I learnt new things and I felt like I was progressing and achieving things. I felt very proud of myself when I was told my my trainer that I had done well and it also boost my confidence. I also got a distinction which I was very pleased about.
It was organised but was a bit difficult during covid times as everything was done remote. It would have been better to be able to see who I was talking to and meet them properly as this made me feel a bit nervous at times and did not help with anxiety
I received a lot of support and I always got help when I asked for help. I was always given time to do my revision during my work hours so that did not have to do it during my own time at home. I found my managers very supportive and helpful
I received lots of help and always was reassured by my training provider. If I needed more time on a module then I was given more time and he was very understanding of my feelings and my anxiety. He would always boost my confidence and kept in touch regularly to check on me.
It did boost my confidence but since being taken off my role it knocked me back and have not felt as enthusiastic and as confident since this. I still feel more confident than I did before from doing the apprenticeship but don't feel like I progressed in my role as I am back where I started.
We do go on work outings sometimes which I really enjoy and I have some really good friends within the company. I help with charity and fundraising and always help to make posters as I am quite creative. I do like to get involved in extra things and I am the peoples forum rep for my store.
Yes
It is a good place to work and am always treated well by B&Q the pay is fair and there is always a lovely bunch of people. The managers are also very accommodating. Holiday allowance is very good. I really enjoy the theme days that we do in our staff room
To always smile and be helpful, learn as much as you can as there is so many things to learn. The more you can do the better as it keeps you busy and you can use these skills in other places. There is really nice people that you will meet and you will make friends.
