My role on a day to day basis involves replenishing the shop floor of stock for customers to buy, I can also be dealing with customer enquiries. I can also be helping to pick the online orders that come through throughout the day. I can also be helping on the tills to serve customers if needed.
Working in Iceland for 10 years I have learnt a lot of new skills. I have learnt how to use the equipment that we use such as the hht guns which basically has everything on it from making a list to replenish the shelves with stock or to pick the online orders that come down.
I enjoy my programme because I am getting to know more information that I didn’t know before. I am also doing my level 2 English and maths, which I have already passed my English and in the process of revising for my maths by doing virtual classrooms online and I have a sessions every week with a tutor from lifetime training.
The programme is well organised and structured. We have meetings and reviews every so often and we always plan our work ahead so then the next meeting can be reviewed and then the next one will be planned. We like to know we’re we are at so we waste no time when planning our meetings.
I receive support from my employer as and when I need it. I can sit down with them and ask questions or go through my work when I need to. I also get support from my other management team by also asking them questions that they can help me with.
I receive the best support ever from my training provider. She has helped me through every step, helping me get set up on the websites, organising the virtual classroom for me to take part in, been very patience with me when I’m struggling with certain tasks for my qualifications.
My qualification will help me be better in my role because even though I have been with the company for 10 years and I have a lot of experiences I always say no matter how long or how good you are at your job there is always something new to learn everyday.
They is always something to do that’s outside of work but involves all team members. There is always social activities for people with certain roles to attend and the company do a football team we’re all the shops from the area play against each other and win a prize at the end.

Iceland is a very loving family run business. The opportunities and support that you have to build yourself up in the company is amazing. You make long life friends with staff and customers. The skills and confidence you get from working with the company can really help. The support network is amazing and the company will help anyway they can.
Just be yourself, don’t hide who you are. Always look after the staff, customers and most importantly yourself, never be scared to ask for help because you will get the support with what you need help with. Iceland will be there for you and you have to be there for them as well.
