  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have learnt more specific and advanced parts of running a pub. For example: cleaning the lines, filling AWP machines, new management and leadership techniques, industry trends and more extensive product knowledge, stock management, how to conduct SWAT analysis with my team and how to properly set goals with them and track them.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured. I can easily see what I have completed, what is left to be done, and where I should be. All the targets set are very reasonable and manageable, and consistent reviews with my learning coach help to keep me motivated and on track to where I need to be.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that i am aware of. Other than business meetings with the area, and business reviews, we don't have any extra curricular activities available to us. But I don't believe this to be a common occurrence in the hospitality industry, and it doesn't feel like something that is missing from our company.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have found Greene King very good to work for. It has always been clear to me how to progress my career and the steps I need to take to get there. All my managers have always been supportive of my want to follow a career in the hospitality industry and have tried to help me out where possible.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • The most important quality to have in hospitality is initiative. If you can show initiative in an interview or trial shift you will get far. As front of House staff you cover both the bar and the serving food side of business, and the best thing is to always make yourself busy. There is always something that can be done.
