I was on the EY Smart Futures programme in London. For the first two weeks I was involved in training for the finals weeks business placement, networking with professionals at EY and doing case study excessive. In the first two weeks there were numerous client sites where the entire group was given a tailored experience by the company we visited. In the final week I was based at a client site doing advisory work. I had to work within a small team of EY employees and the clients providing a report. At the end of the week I had to present the report and give a Q&A session on it.
I learnt many practical business skills, especially technological ones which have been really useful as most city firms tend to use similar software. I also got the opportunity to refine my presenting skills in a professional environment.
It was thoroughly enjoyable as I was able to get to know the other interns (we were in a large group) and develop friendships. The work was also interesting which made it an enjoyable experience.
Very valued, it was evident that a lot of money and time had been invested by EY into the programme. Also everybody at EY seemed to have time for me regardless of the fact that I was only an intern. They still keep in contact with me and put on alumnus events which still makes me feel valued by EY even though the programme ended last summer.
It was very well structured. I was provided with a timetable of what was to occur in the first two weeks and there was always something planned. The final week wasn't structured as I was placed within the business and therefore had to work alongside professionals in the same way any other person at EY would.
Quite a lot of support was available.
Quite a lot of support was available.
I have no costs as a student living at home so very well as all the pay I received served as extra money to spend over the summer!
Yes, EY puts on alumnus events us interns and invites us to events that EY sponsors.
Yes
The experience was thoroughly enjoyable and I have found it a very useful addition to my CV.
To brush up on competency questions for the interview and to make sure to have a genuine interest in what EY does.
