  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is based in Emerging Talent. Day to day I do alot of admin around right to work checks, creating offers and answering queries. Visits to schools and careers fairs are also involved in my role as part of the engagement side and to target new candidates for kier.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt alot of new skills whilst working for Kier, the biggest one being communication. I had this skill already but it has definitely developed most as a huge part of my role is communicating with candidates and colleagues. Another skill is handling spreadsheets and using technology to track data and information we receive.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme alot. It has been great for me to learn and work at the same time and I feel as though it has really been beneficial for my career. The apprenticeship programme aligns well with my work and I like the fact that I can relate when I am completing apprenticeship work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I find my programme is well organised and structured. The platform used to keep all my work together is easy to navigate and use. My tutor is good with keeping my apprenticeship calls regular and all work is kept on top of which means I dont feel like I am behind in any way.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager always makes sure that I am happy with my apprenticeship and makes sure I have plenty of time to complete any due work. I feel like they are very supportive and have been a great help with keeping me organised and under as little pressure as possible.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive alot of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. If I have any issues, I know I can give them a call and ask for any kind of help. My tutor is very good at making me feel calm and relaxed about my work load and always talks through the work with me, which I find very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though my qualification really helps my performance in my role. And the same the other way round. My role seems to align really well with the course and I feel as though I learn a lot, which I then use in my role. The qualification is definitely the right one for me.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have alot of networks in Kier. The main ones that I am in are the Diversity and Inclusion Networks. During summer the team have more social and there is alot of effort to get everyone together. We have collaboration days in which every one who can, comes to the office too.

  • Yes

  • I would definitely recommend Kier Group to a friend, and have done, because of how Flexible and supportive they are as a business. The benefits are amazing and the efforts to make it diverse and inclusive work place are great. It is a wonderful business to work for and I would definitely recommend it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
  • I would advise anyone applying to Kier group to look at the amazing benefits that Kier has to offer, along with our values and Diversity and Inclusion road map. It allows them to see what a great business we are and will be useful during interview to know what Kier are about.
