  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have developed a number of new skills and improved others. I have never worked within the Technology side of the bank, I previously worked within the operations side of the bank so this apprenticeship has has allowed me to work to new skills that I haven't developed in previous roles. An example of this is stakeholder management also worked on learning how to work across multiple teams to complete a common goal. I also learn skills around working in an agile environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my time on the programme, this programme has been a really useful way of making a move from an operations role into a technology role. I have been able create a network of people completing the same move as me but are doing different roles which has allowed us to both learn from each other and support each other through challenges

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme has worked really well. There is one delivery session a month were you learn a new topic which you the complete a project around, thi s means that the workload and learning is are both done a pace which allows you time to embed the learning and well as being manageable around your day to day role

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have received from my employers has been fantastic. There is a requirement of the apprenticeship that you must complete at least a day a week in of the job training (this can take many forms) this has always been honoured by my employer no matter my workload my of the job time has always been ring fenced. Also in general the support around developing into this new role has been fantastic and made the move so much smoother

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support that I receive from my training provider has been exactly the level that I have needed, it is dependent on the support you need and different for each colleague which I believe is the exact right approach. There are regularly scheduled coaching session (both individual and group coaching) but then if you need and support on an ad-hoc basis you coach is always only an email away. Also the online community that is available is a great source of support

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Before working for Barclays I have worked for a number of different employers in different sectors however I feel that in terms of how the I have been valued as an employee no company I have worked for has valued me as much as Barclays. As long as you are welling to put the work in there is a career for you at Barclays

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • As I have said in previous answer if you are willing to put the work in within Barclays there is a career here for you so when applying show that you are passionate about self development, this can be demonstrated by something as simply as researching the company/banking industry during the application process and demonstrated that research. Also if sucessful in applying the best advice I could give in terms of how to progress is do not be afraid to ask questions whether that is around processes that you believe or asking for support developing. You will get as much out of your role as you put in.
