My role involves loading with several different departments in chasing and making sure several different governance artefacts are complete on time and to a sufficient standard. I also prepare weekly and monthly presentations for senior stakeholders with in the business. I also have an understanding of finances and when to call out forecasts and budgets.
Since starting my role as an apprentice I have picked up several new skills and developed on my already existing skill set. I have become a lot more proficient with using Microsoft office and I have grown my analytic skills and have also learnt a lot by attending my apprenticeship workshops and completing assignments
After working for the bank for over 5 years in the branch network I took a side step in my career by starting out on the apprenticeship. I am currently really enjoying my work and the opportunity to study’s again has been an excellent opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.
I feel like my apprentice programme is very well organised and structured. There are regular catch ups with my tutor and my apprentice manager. Progress reviews are also held regularly to make sure i am on track and I am getting the most out of my apprenticeship. We also make sure that what I am working on is aligned to the apprenticeship programme
The support from my employer regarding the apprenticeship programme has be great. I have regular catch ups with my line manager about the apprenticeship and I am also encouraged to take as much time as I need to complete assignments and attend workshops. There are also regular events for apprentices to attend to meet and network with other people on different programmes
I receive regular support from my training provider and the tutor. The tutor is very responsive to emails for any questions regarding the programme. There are also several resources on the training providers online portal to help with working towards our qualifications and several online events we can attend to ask questions and get help.
I feel that I am learning a lot of new skills and information on my programme that is allowing me to perform better in my role. I have no background working in this type of role before so the apprenticeship programme is a massive help for me in understanding process and what is involved in change.
There are several events that are planned not only where I am based but all over at several different office locations. There are also networking events which are organised over lunch for apprentices who are at different stages of their careers and different stages of the apprenticeship programmes. There are also several well being events that are organised both online and in different office locations
Yes
I would recommend Barclays to a friend if the opportunity for apprentice roles opens up again. Starting an apprenticeship has been one of the best decisions I have made lately. I currently really enjoy my work and even though I feel busy I don’t feel overworked, I am encouraged to take breaks and prioritise my well being
Always be yourself. It doesn’t matter if you have limited experience in the role you’re applying for, skills can be taught. As long as you are open to learning new skills, working in an ever changing environment and have great people skills then a career at Barclays could be a great thing to apply for
