I work within the kitchen and bathroom showroom at wickes. My role as a KBA to predominantly taking leads for the Design Consultants in store. I also play a part in customer service and housekeeping.
My knowledge on how to ‘sell’ has improved. I never saw myself as a salesman and was more interested in designing and making customers dreams a reality. However, sales didn’t really come naturally to me.
I really enjoy the apprenticeship. I find it really rewarding. However, there is a lot of work to do along with my everyday role within the business. Time managing can become hard, especially over busy periods.
The course is well structured. However some of the topics and resources are slightly out of date for Wickes (old suppliers, ranges etc). But as this apprenticeship is not run by Wickes, there just probably hasn’t been communication.
My employer leaves me to it the majority of the time. However, I have used the support when needed. My boss is very understanding, approachable and supportive as a person.
My coach is very approachable and always there is you need advice or have questions.
Gaining this qualification will give me the training needed to become a Design Consultant at Wickes. Although a position may not be available when I am qualified, I will be ready to apply when a job comes up.
No, not part of my course. It’s all virtual.
Yes
I have found me whole experience really rewarding and managed to integrate myself within the store team. Everyone is willing to help you become your best.
There is a lot of work, so make sure you really want to do the course and not just doing it for something to do. And also make sure you’re good at time management!
