Work experience involved auditing a client called Metro Bank. I worked on different FSLI's throughout my audit. Worked majorly on complex areas such as other assets and liabilities. Also, took lead over areas like director emoluments and whistleblowing. Gathered evidence from the client and documented it in ega's.
I developed on time management and organizational skills. I learned how to work under pressure. I used to divide my work according to what was considered to be priority. I improved my communication skills throughout the audit by having client calls and interacting with different team members. I got a great exposure to the corporate world.
I enjoyed my work experience as I got to learn throughout the audit. My knowledge just kept expanding and broadening. I gained information on many different and new FSLI's. I learned so much about how banks operate and function. I also met people from different cultures and nationalities during my work experience.
My work experienced was quite organized towards the end of placement. It improved quite a bit from the start. The work was properly delegated amongst the managers, senior associates and associates. It was delegated in such a way that it got done in a timely and efficient manner. I was made well aware on what areas i had to focus and work on.
I learned alot about the company culture in these last few months. It provides you with an environment of a lot of knowledge. Working there would involve building relationships with many different kinds of people and learning about many different areas. It would help you to grow as an individual both personally and professionally.
It is a part of my university course. Hence, this work experience plays a major role in me finishing my university course, and building my career as an ACA after university ends. This placement counts towards my ACA hours. It also gives me an insight into the corporate world which is very helpful for my future career path.
This was a paid internship. I used to get paid around £1.8K every month. Since, I was a flying start , I used to also get paid for the overtime hours I worked on during the busy season this placement. Since, the placement was paid with overtime hours it gave me much more motivation to work even harder.
There were many such opportunities throughout the placement. It was during busy season as well, since I used to spend so much time with the team. We had lunches and dinners together which really help us build team relations. We also used to go for team socials after working for long busy hours. There were also many department specific socials which helped us meet new people.
Yes
I would recommend PwC to a friend if they are really interested in the roles the company has to offer. They have .a great work culture and have many benefits that come alongside the job. There are also various people from different nationalities and cultures , which opens up to a lot of networking.
The major tip would be to focus on the 5 major important attributes of PwC: Whole leadership, Technical and digital, Business acumen, Global and inclusive, and Relationships. It is very important to build relationships throughout your time at the firm , and inculcate qualities such as being a team player while at work.
