I work on a department called Inventory Control and what my job entails is, I have to count every location in the warehouse in every location in the warehouse. We also deal with any issues with certain items and get them put back to stock as quickly as we can. We also get Exception cards from the Inbound Receiving team which are cards that are made when they have more of one item than they should or if they have less of one item on the manifest.
Since joining IC nearly a year ago, I have managed to learn so many new skills and gained new knowledge on certain topics. I can now successfully investigate an item that has an issue and resolve the problem and get it put back to stock quickly and efficiently, I can also do the exception cards that we have which we get from inbound receiving team.
I am really enjoying my programme because I am becoming more confident in myself and giving myself the courage to hopefully become a leader of some sort. It also gives me the opportunity to meet new people and further my skills on to them and teach them what I have learnt.
My programme is, in my opinion, very well organised. We have regular calls and chats to discuss how everything is going. The workshops that we have are also very enjoyable and are a good opportunity to show the trainer how well we are doing face-to-face instead of only seeing the progress on the computer.
Wayfair have supported me all the way from the start. My supervisor has helped me out a lot as well by giving me the right amount of time to study and do my assignments to the best of my ability. I also know that if I was really struggling with anything, Wayfair would do everything they can to provide me with the help that I need.
As I stated in the other segment, we have regular workshop calls or just one to one calls to discuss how we are getting on. if for whatever reason I started to fall behind on my scheduled hours, then my training advisor would just check up on me to make sure everything is okay and they will help me to get my hours better.
I feel like my qualification helps me perform better in my role substantially because it is making me more and more confident in myself and is giving me the ability to do things I never thought I would be able to do or achieve. It has also helped me to understand how team leaders and supervisors have to plan things for the team accordingly.
On Fridays, 10 of us go to Lutterworth Sports Academy after work to play 6 aside football. we have only just started it but it is a big help in meeting new people from other shifts. Every month or so, the IC team get together and have pizza for lunch aswell.

Wayfair is a place with some very good and genuine people,. Ever since starting at wayfair nearly 3 years ago, there has never been a time where I have wanted to move on to another place. I have made many friends and have been treated with the upmost respect by everyone on my team.
One useful tip that I would give anyone applying to wayfair is If you apply and are successful in the induction then I would give the advice of, Work hard and always push yourself to develop and step up at wayfair because there are so many opportunities for people to step up and get even higher roles.
