My day-to-day role invokes a mixture of helping housekeepers with anything they might need assistance with to asking guests how their stay has been and also making sure the checks for that day are all complete and to standards, or delegating to PM team members if needed.
I have developed a greater understanding of the company as well as my IT skills. I am also refreshing myself on maths and english, as I had to complete these exams too which have helped with writing emails and calculating payroll.
I very much enjoy my apprenticeship when I am engaged, but I sometimes find it hard to engage, especially when trying to complete it while working. Apart from that, I do thoroughly enjoy it. I have a team supporting me as well as my apprenticeship leader who is so helpful when needed to be.
My programme is well structured and organised. I like the fact I catch up with my mentor at least once a month and she helps me know what I need to do next. I also like that it is online.
My employer has always been supportive, helping me where I need it and also encouraging me to complete certain tasks.
I receive 7 days a week support. Anything I need, she is always there on the phone or email, so I am always confident in contacting her if I need help.
I feel it helps me a bit when I’m in my role, as I think more about different sides of the business, not just the new stuff. I also learn more about initiatives like equality and diversity.
I wouldn’t say so. We have meetings for specific things where you can come along and everyone helps each other. Apart from that, we have bingo nights to strengthen bonds within the team.
Yes
Whitbread is a fabulous company to work for and I can finally say I love my job, the people, atmosphere and just the company as a whole. Someone is always there in person or at the other end of the line willing to help you whenever you need and it’s just like one big diverse family.
Just go for it. When you first join the company, you might think this is too much or not for me, but I say just stick it out for a few weeks as the training can be quite intimidating, but once you have done it and got the hang of it, it’s better.
