My role is to sort and organise mail then correctly pack and deliver the mail to the customers in a timely manner and without damaging or loosing the mail, my job also includes 7 hours a week of online learning which helps me understand the role and importance of me in the business
I have learn many new skills, some being communication with customers and some being helping peers with their mail, these are just a few things I have improved on and managed to help with, I also learned many social skills such as how to communicate with customers and how to diffuse a situation
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, I work with a brilliant team who are all very professional and passionate about their job, if I ever need help they are there to help me and they will always go out of their way to support me in my role of delivering mail
The structure of the program is thought out well, I learn new things each week which help me progress throughout my apprenticeship and help me when I’m out delivering mail, if I’m in a situation I’m unsure on I try resolve it to the best of what I have learned
I receive loads of support, if I’m ever stuck my managers will be there to support me and give me a help in the right direction, if they are unable to help they guide me towards help and talk me through how to do things I’m unsure on
My training provider is always there to support me when I’m stuck, he will always reply within a few hours of my message and talk me through what I need to do and how to do it to the best of my ability and gives me advice and guidance to complete it
My qualification helps me through the things I’ve learned, I learn handy tips tricks and advice each week which help me perform better when out on delivery, these also help me when I’m unsure on what to do, they make me think logically and how to overcome the obstacles
There aren’t any extra curricular activities in the company however we always have a good laugh in the depot and everyone is very cheerful and loves their job, these moments help boost emotions and make you feel much more enthusiastic and wanting to come into work just for the environment
Yes
It’s a great experience getting out and about each day meeting the locals and engaging with the local community, it’s a fantastic opportunity to boost your personal fitness too, it’s essentially getting paid for to walk around and deliver mail to people who you build a bond with
Be prepared for a lot of physical work, it can be tiring at first but the more you do it the more you get used to it and you end up loving the job and the people you work with, only downside would be the weather as it’s not very fun delivering in the wet weather
