My role working for whitbread is a housekeeper and this involved cleaning the rooms ready for when the customers arrive. Since starting my apprenticeship I have been training on reception and I have covered 5 nights on reception. This involved checking guests in, setting up breakfast in the restaurant, handovers on co-pilot and walking the corridors every hour
Yes I have developed so many skills since I started at the premier inn and I have gained even more since starting my apprenticeship. I wanted to gain more confidence and dealing with customers has helped me to do this. I have also been trained on how to moldx the bath rooms to get rid of the mold
Im really enjoying completing the hospitality level 2 apprenticeship I started it in January and since I started I have tried to stick to my target. This has helped me to learn so much more then I knew. Even completing the English has helped me to refresh my knowledge on spellings as you do forget it if you don’t use itX
The organization whitbread provides is amazing. If you need help they are there for you 100%. They are a really good team which is more like a second family. We have my manager and deputy manager and receptionists and housekeepers which help our hotel to run smoothly.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I recently lost my mum in October and I was mentally overwhelmed. My manager was so supportive and I was able to have time off until I came to terms with what had happened. It was a shock as I only spoke to my mum the day before she passed. When I came back to work they would call me into the office to ask if I was okay and always make sure they check on me.
I receive the support I need to complete my apprenticeship and if I ever needed help I could contact her on aptem and she would get back to me and talk me through it. So far I haven’t had to ask for help but if I need it I would for sure.
I feel that the qualifications I receive from completing my apprenticeship will give me the skills I need when I work on reception or in the restaurant next door. As a housekeeper it doesn’t really give you the skills you need for the as it’s More about cleaning which is something I love to do anyway.
I get involved in Christmas dues that work arrange and we have a payday breakfast every month which is also really nice. I would like to do more with my team my days out for meals or activities to help us become a stronger team.
Yes
I would recommend whitbread to my friends and family as it’s a really good company to work for. There is a lot to help you progress into a higher level and learn all the skills you qualifications you need. I started as a housekeeper and move up to head housekeeper. After this I trained on reception and covered night shift. I have also worked in lockdown as night security which I was the key holder to the building and I painted the rooms easy for reopening. I also have to go round the rooms and rush the toilets.
I would say it’s a really helpful and useful experience and it helps you gain the confidence and experience you need to progress in your future career. I’m so glad I took the opportunity to complete my apprenticeship and having done so I have gained so many skills.
