The role is quite diverse and every day can be totally different. Daily tasks involve managing my case load and planning time in my diary to go out on visits and days of enforcement within the city. I work from home a lot but via Microsoft Teams I work very closely with colleagues
I found that this project allowed me develop my existing skills but at the same time added new skills and techniques. The project really made me think about the reason I was doing a task and writing up about it really helped to focus the mind. I am far more confident now.
I found the programme very enjoyable. It's probably the first academic learning I've done since leaving school so it was good to get back in the habit of it. I really enjoyed the workshops, especially the interactive aspects of them. This allowed me to present my work to a wider group.
The programme was very well structured. Right from the start when I was assigned my mentor, he was very helpful and provided clear guidance. The course was set out in a way that provided clear and achievable timescales and the system was easy enough to use with regular catch ups.
My employer Salford City Council was very supportive of me joining and completing the programme. I had regular catch ups with my manager and was allowed the time to complete the course within works time. My colleagues were also very helpful and provided witness statements when asked to do so.
I was provided quite a lot of support from Babbington. Right from the start I was assigned a mentor who was very helpful and knowledgeable. There was regular workshops to attend which allowed a more interactive aspect which included small quizzes which helped to focus the mind. I couldn't have asked for more.
I feel like my qualification will definitely help me to perform better in my role. I gained so much knowledge, skills and experience when completing it. It helped me think about everything I was doing and more importantly the reason for doing it. I've already used a number of skills learnt.
Our team is constantly arranging social events and the spirit within the team is really good. There are no sports teams in work however I am quite an active person anyway. There are a number of courses available through work which in turn are a great way to network with others.
Yes
It is a great company to work for. As a local person myself who has a massive connection to the city I'm very proud to work here. I've learnt so much in my time here and I can feel myself growing all of the time. Would highly recommend.
The advice I would give to anyone applying at Salford City Council would be to show your passion for the city. By doing your job to a high standard you really can help out a large number of people. Be friendly, approachable and knowledgeable and you will go very far.
