  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I love working at E.ON as an apprentice, as I have the opportunity to complete 8 placements during my four years as a degree apprentice, giving me exposure to and insight into various business sectors. My current position is with the Brand and Marketing department's Campaigns team. I am currently in charge of a fresh campaign that we are launching.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Being a part of this programme at E.ON is something I adore doing. My team members do a great job of orientating the work in my placement to fit my needs and the areas in which I want to gain experience. My manager and I have weekly check-ins where we talk about how I'm doing and how work is going. They always try to get me involved in new projects or activities that will advance my professional and personal goals. In addition to what I do at E.ON, my managers have helped me with the work I'm doing at the university and have offered to connect me with people from various business sectors to aid in this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is extremely well structured, as within the 4 year scheme I undertake 8 placements which last around 6 months. Having this structure allows me to map out my journey at E.ON and gives me the opportunity to gain exposure to new areas of the business, as well as giving me the responsibility to seek out placement opportunities in new teams.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am grateful to receive a tremendous amount of support from my company. When I initially joined the business, I was allocated a business mentor (someone from a senior position), who inspires and guides me in the right direction throughout my apprenticeship. Similarly, one of the older apprentice's was appointed as my 'buddy'.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Similar to the support I receive at E.ON, my training provider also appointed me with an academic mentor, with who I can chat to whenever I need support or advice. They also do regular progress meetings with my business mentor, so we can check-in how I am doing and areas that may need improving, as well as recognising my achievements.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that my qualification aligns extremely well with my job role at E.ON, as the modules are broken down into key areas of Digital Marketing - all of which I will gain exposure to on a practical level in my job. I often find that the skills I learn from my training provider are transferrable to my on the job training.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At E.ON there are a vast number of activities or societies to get involved in. Examples include the Embrace network, the Fairness, Inclusion and Diversity network, the Learning and People Development network, etc. There are networks employees can join to also help them develop specific skills or spread awareness of important topics, to drive positive change within the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • E.ON is a truly amazing place to work, whether that be on the apprenticeship scheme or not. The culture here allows employees to thrive and carve their own path. I love how there are so many opportunities and always something to get involved in, outside of your daily tasks/responsibilities.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • I would advise someone to be their authentic, true self when applying to E.ON and ensure they fully demonstrate their passions and values. I think it's important to showcase your strengths and don't be afraid to sell yourself. Demonstrate your passion for E.ON and any past achievements you can relate to the role.
