I have regular calls with the project teams i'm involved with. This generally covers the status of the projects progress and ensuring that the relevant stakeholders are using the organisational models and templates to help keep on track. Project management templates such as RACI, RAID logs, lessons learnt, gannt chart plans and scope of works (AMWA's).
Yes! I have learnt to manage my self a significant amount. Monitoring and keeping track of projects involved in and status of actions throughout. I don't believe to have learnt a new skill but have developed existing ones very much. Stakeholder communication has been a big development speaking to team members frequently of all ages and skill sets.
I enjoy the vast extent of what eon can teach and provide an insight too. There are a significant amount of teams and areas in the business and i have a choice of which areas i get to work in. I like this as it gives me the opportunity to direct and take control of the apprenticeship more so.
The programme is very well structured by my mentors as their focus is to align what i'm working on against my university content. I have regular check ins with my manager and my mentor to monitor progress and how i am getting on with the work. I have the flexibility to structure it myself as previously mentioned as the apprenticeship progresses.
I receive good support. If i have any queries i have people that i can approach and i know of who to go to if i need any assistance. They are really understanding and accommodating with any help i need. I work with people doing the same programme as me so being able to speak to them about work we're doing we can bounce ideas off each other to help get a better understanding.
I receive good help and support from the university. I receive feedback on my assignments and my lecturer is always happy to help discuss it and give me help on improving it going forward. My work based learning tutor is helpful also as i have calls with her and my manager every so often to check in how i'm progressing and getting on with work and uni balance.
Very much so. The content covered is very transferrable for working in the business and correlates to tasks that i do. I'm currently improving the ways that e.on can better integrate their project management tools and templates across the teams in the business and what should be included. Rereferring to uni work especially helps with this.
Yes there are. I have been to numerous. I have been to the sustainable school awards in scotland as well as the apprenticeship awards day, neurodiversity show and also going to numerous site visits. We have a day every couple of months where me and the other apprentices all get together as we're all in different teams and don't get to integrate much so this is great.
Yes
E.on are a great company to work for... Offer great opportuities to help in excelling your career and offer support for this as well. Everyone in the business seems to be really happy with their job which says a lot with some having worked for the business for over 30yrs .
I would advise to be confident when being interviewed and to do your research on the company, frame works used and what the different areas of the business are. A key piece of advice i'd recommend most of all is to get a months work experience doing what your applying to do as this is great to talk about and what helped me get my role! Try and stand out from all of the other candidates....
