Day-to-day I take peoples accounts from start to finish. From planning how the job is going to go, to sending the final accounts off for manager review. As well as creating tax computations.
I have learnt a complete new set of skills, I had no prior accounting knowledge and can now confidently say I can complete a full set of FRS 105 accounts.
I throughly enjoy the programme, the support from Mazars is unmatched. My manager is constantly checking in and making sure I understand not only the work but the college material as well.
Incredibly organised. From the first few weeks of training to 6 months in, I still feel that I understand when and what exams/college courses I have coming up and how to prepare for them.
The support is absolutely unmatched, my manager has been unbelievably supportive with my professional journey. After I failed an exam, he scheduled an hour each week to go over college material with me to secure my understanding.
I get monthly emails regarding common questions asked on a forum, that is completely accessible for all students which I find incredibly helpful and useful.
I think they work hand in hand to compliment each other - the work I do helps me understand the college material on a deeper level and likewise the college material helps me understand the work I’m doing before having to query a member of the team.
There are countless social activities within Mazars - numerous sports club channels on teams to allow anyone to get involved, monthly socials organised by the admin team to bring the office together, alumni events and also young professional networking events.
Yes
I had the warmest welcome which has been carried forward 6 months, the team is so supportive and with the socials I can see the whole of the Manchester office is the same, as well as seeing it with other offices from company away days.
Research the company! And don’t be afraid to show your personality - remember that the person on the other side of the call/email is just that, a PERSON! They are there to help and support you on your professional journey!
