My job role is Housekeeping. My duties on a day to day basis cleaning rooms, exercising Brand standards, ensuring place of work is safe for guests and staff, training new starters, helping guests with any queries, helping other team members, I ensure my rooms are cleaned to a high standard.
I am new to the apprenticeship programme but over the last few months I have noticed that my programme will benefit me in the long run. I have gained confidence with my customer service and my job role. I enjoy developing and learning new skills and enjoy working with the public.
To begin with my programme seemed really daunting. Looking at it seemed too much work. I had to change my routine at home to be able to join, which was difficult to begin with. I still need to find more time to make sure I get the most out of the course and enjoy learning in the process.
At first there seemed a lot to do and it looked very daunting to me. With support and mentoring from my work coach I seem to be in a better place to achieve and pass this course. The layout is simple and easy to follow but sometimes the boxes for the answers to questions seem to big, especially when it’s a short answer question.
I have an amazing team who I work with. My line manager is very supportive. She will help me with any problem whether it’s with work or personal issues. She listens and helps anyway she can. I know I can talk to her and get caring and understanding in return.
I felt like I was bothering her with silly stuff to begin with, but my coach is great. She always checks in with me to see if there’s anything she can help with and is very supportive and friendly. She is keeping me on track with my learning.
She is very supportive and helps me in any way she can. If I feel I can’t get enough done or I’m struggling with something, she is always on hand to help. She checks in with me most days to see if she can help me with anything. Brilliant trainer.
We do a lot of fundraising for Gosh. Afew times throughout the year we try to raise as much money as possible. This year we are doing a fun run/walk for Gosh. We also have team meetings to discuss anything that is happening through the business and if we need anything for our work or shifts. And gives us a chance to catch up with everybody on the team.
Yes
It is a good company to work for. It’s very flexible with my home life. The perks are always good and you don’t have to stay in the sector that you originally went for, you can brand outwards in any department in the company. This helps as there’s many many job roles to choose from.
Please be genuine. I would like to work with people who are genuine and care about their job. The work load is busy and challenging in a good way. There is plenty of opportunities to develop and grow as a person and as a team member. Great company to work for!
