As a travel agent for tui i work towards the tui retail standards everyday providing great customer service and alot of team work. I not only sell peoples holidays but also work with big amounts of money and alot of admin. With being an apprentice im entitled to do 6 hours of training a week so its great to take a break from my work and focus on learning. whether its doing tasks or attending calls.
As this is my first job i found it helping me alot gaining confidence and knowledge on the industry. I now pride myself with technology working with many systems. Working hard with a team to achieve targets and made me put in massive amounts of effort.
I enjoy that i get a wider view of my job role through my programme as i get lots of information where i can learn more than a standard travel agent would. I work on many tasks that help me not only in my place of work my my day to day life.
My apprentice is very well structured with regular calls with my apprentice officer, well marked tasks and they are also updated regularly. I am also apart of the apprentice group on teams were we have other apprentices and many officers if we need any help.
I receive alot of help from my officer and my managers they support me in my role and help me out alot. Especially if i need to be off shop floor for any meetings or meeting deadlines. I get times throughout my week to take some time off the shop floor. My team are also very supportive and help me with feedback.
My apprentice officer helps my work towards my qualification by giving my feedback and telling me whats expected of me when submitting tasks to my best ability. She works around my busy times in store to get catch ups and assigns me tasks when im ready.
I gain lots of knowledge through completing tasks whether its a fact file on a detestation or legal and compliance. I get allocated work that revolves around my everyday tasks on the shop floor. I understand more and it helps my gain confidence which puts my customers at ease. I work on personal performance logs on many situations that happen and i get feed back giving to me not only about how ive done on my log but what i could have done better in the situation i was in. It helps me preform much better in my role!
With this job comes many opportunities such as taking on educationals where to you travel to destinations all over the world, go to events for cruises and thirds party's. i Have attend meetings in other shops and many calls with thrid partys including the amazing disney calls.
Yes
If you are into travel its the best thing to do. It gives you the opportunity to travel to many places and to talk about what your passionate about on a daily basis. The projects you get to take part in is truly incredible and helping those around you achieve the most important memories makes you value the job even more. Being with a happy and supportive team when attending your role of an apprentice is something that comes naturally with company shown through events rewards and much more.
Working with tui makes you realise that time is key. Spending time with different customer types can be hard in a busy work place but also making sure you provide great customer service all around is a must. Team work and communication is key helping each other with new places or difficult problems. Not everyone that works in a travel agents needs to be good with money and counting and i have learned through experience as it takes time. My tip is to come into the company with an open mind and eager to learn.
