I learnt how to manage different types of stakeholders and ensure delivery of projects to timelines (overall project management and people management skills). I grasped a broad understanding of various functions of the organisation and my overall awareness of an organisational context has increased. Presenting skills - content creation to delivery.
There were lots of opportunities to apply new skills learnt during the apprenticeship to the workplace; however sometimes the theory did not always feel applicable to the environment.
The programme was organised well - over a period of 2 years we were clearly given a structure of lectures, topics and assignment deadlines which allowed us to plan our day jobs around the requirements of the programme. Throughout the apprenticeship, the placements were rotational to ensure that different areas of the organisation were being exposed to my development.
I was given 10% off the job as required for my apprenticeship providers and could also utilise free blocks during my week to complete any deadlines. My employer gave me flexibility to manage my schedule and my managers were proactive in my ongoing development throughout the programme.
I was given an academic tutor throughout my qualification who offered a lot of support throughout my qualification; supporting with any queries, time management to overall wellbeing advice. I appreciate all the support and guidance offered with respect to resources that were provided to outline expectations and requirements from the course.
From a confidence perspective, the qualification has broadened my knowledge and learning in relation to organisational context which has given me a way to broaden my strategic thinking and think about the bigger picture. This has influenced my professional development while also ensuring I am doing the expected roles and responsibilities of my job.
Yes there are networking activities related to being a woman in the workplace and being from a diverse background. The bespoke networks host events around career advancement, mentorship and general networking. Other extracurriculars are also hosted in my local team where we will have team development days and social activities to create a good culture for the team.

It is a great place to work - the people are friendly and there are so many areas within the organisation that can give you a taste of various career paths. In my time of 3 years I have been involved in 4 different areas of the company that have all looked so different and helped me learn something new.
Look at what area you are interested in and bring your own viewpoints as to why you are passionate about the field. This company values diversity in thoughts and ideas so do not be afraid to be bold. Be proactive and a self starter as this is what allows for you to identify ways to make a difference and then deliver.
