  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Deputy manager of a young people's house, supporting staff via supervisions, training, looking at the day to day running of the home, supporting the young people in the house focussing on the emotional wellbeing of them, working as a team to get the best possible out comes for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The house is Ofsted led so I am learning everyday regarding Ofsted regulations, I have come in as a deputy manager so I am gaining more knowledge by working with an experienced Ofsted manager. I have always enjoyed partnership working and have built up relations with the young people's school.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I work with a tutor who is patient and very professional, I have found that I can achieve things were as in the past confidence was a problem, the course itself is quite evidenced based so I can manage that, the course is challenging but enjoyable, and i'm learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course is structured well, I have learned to pace myself and not try to rush things or do it all in one go, the dates between each course submission works well as I think a two week window is ideal.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am always able to attend team meetings with my tutor and get a lot of support from my manager if I need any help, I am asked during my supervisions how things are going and what my percentages are, so i feel as though there is a genuine interest.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor is great, I get all the support I need from my provider which is a relief as at the beginning, I was very anxious at the start of my course due to confidence and lack of education but my tutor gave me confidence I could complete the course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has challenged me to take things in more and be able to put it into written work, working in an Ofsted home coming from a supported living home is completely different, my qualification will enable me to have a more professional and knowledgeable approach to my job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, the young people attend a daily boing club which has provided structure, routine and made the young people look at healthy living, healthier lifestyle choices, everything is geared up for the young people to thrive, in terms of staff getting involved with activities not that much.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Libre Living to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The support they give to the staff along with the young people is amazing, when I had my interview I came out thinking that I wanted to be part of that team, the opportunities that are available for a career with Libre are really good, the training package is good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Libre Living?
  • Bring to your interview creativity, how you approach your key working sessions with an open mind, ask questions, make sure you bring your personality with you, don't waste this opportunity to join a great company, be prepared for long hours ask question about the company, do your research.
