I joined abrdn’s Trainee programme in 2022 working in the Investment Operations Controls Team. I have since developed a strong interest in controls and have found myself increasingly capable of deputising for and learning from more experienced colleagues. Tasks related to a variety of MI and reporting
Meeting new people everyday was a great way of boosting my communication skills and has been very beneficial in my every-day life since. As well as this, working alongside an experienced, diverse, and talented group of people was a great way of developing my adaptability and knowledge of the industry.
With the amount of unique opportunities it brought I enjoyed everyday working at abrdn
Although the company was going through a lot of changes at the time of my arrival, it didn't impact my working life and everyone was super helpful in supporting and helping me throughout the duration of my programme.
I received a lot of support throughout the whole duration of the traineeship from my employer
I received a lot of support as I had monthly calls with my training provider who gave ,me tasks to complete every month. Additionally, I had a training session with Elite every month.
It definitely help a lot as it gives you a broader understanding of the industry. It also helped me as a school leaver to adapt to full-time working life as that was a new experience for me and they gave me a lot of advice to assist in having smooth transition.
Yes! There is lots of social groups and events available to join which everyone has access to. My favourite was NextGen where all the young colleagues in the company would meet for drinks every month.
