For the first two weeks of the Smart Futures programme, I developed my existing skills such as networking, giving presentations and note taking. For the third week, I was at UBS, in Group Internal Audit (GIA) where I learnt about how to conduct an audit and had first hand experience.
I've developed existing skills such as networking - throughout the internship, I met many people in EY, from the CEOs to school leaver students. I also gave presentations to a wide range of audiences such as one at the ICAEW.
The programme was great, and very enjoyable - I met many new people whilst being in different teams each day. It exceeded my expectations!
The EY staff who shadowed me were extremely helpful and recognised my skills and positive attributes as well as providing constructive critisism.
The programme was well structured - there was an initial induction day the week before the internship, and then a formal induction on my first day. We had an IT training day. We were delegated different tasks each day for the first two weeks and then we were given a buddy and mentor to support us for the third week and throughout our next year at college.
I have a buddy and mentor who support me and listen to any of my queries, and help with problems I have.
Yes
I would definitely recommened EY to a friend - they do so much to help support people and the Smart Futures programme is a great way to gain insight of working in one of the Big 4 Accountany firms.
Make sure you have qualities or experience which will make you stand out against your competitors. Before you take the online tests or go to the interviews, practise! There are so many people applying for your role, and you need to be the best.
