I oversee the general administrator role. Ensure the attendance inbox on outlook is managed - make sure apprentices follow the absence procedures correctly and fill out self-certification forms which then allow me to schedule in return to work interviews. I ensure that the master tracker that is used by others in my team is up to date and accurate and upload the relevant information onto our HR system. I also create the apprentices' holiday planners to ensure they know when they are on annual leave and when to complete OTJT.
I believe that I have developed my excel skills as I am able to add filters, functions and condition cells. My time keeping skills have definitely developed alongside my attention to detail as I have lessened the chance of little mistakes made. I think I have also improved my interpersonal skills as I regularly converse with apprentices and sometimes their host placements.
I really do enjoy the overall aspect of the apprenticeship alongside my job role. Whilst working on my daily duties and also finding the time to complete my apprenticeship work, I have been able to see how the two are connected. I have been able to learn the ins and outs of the job role I have, as well as the background knowledge from the apprenticeship to better improve how I work.
I believe that the programme is structured well. I am able to work a full time role but also have time to complete my 20% OTJT. I have regular scheduled calls with my tutor which allow me to ask any questions I have and get any clarity needed on tasks I am currently doing.
I believe I receive excellent support from my employer. Anytime I have a question, no matter how small, they are sure to give me a quick answer. We have weekly and biweekly meetings that are scheduled in for the team to catch-up with each other and discuss any queries that anyone has.
I have scheduled calls with my tutor to go over the work I am to complete or have already completed. The work I submit is marked within a sufficient timeframe so I can make any amendments if needed. I have also been shown where to find any factsheets that may help me with my learning and can ask questions at any time.
Doing the apprenticeship alongside my job role allows me to develop a deeper understanding of what is expected within my role. Incorporate my learning of the concepts and models that encompass why I do the work that I do; how to use my time and how to prioritise my work according to importance and urgency.
There are opportunities for me to go into head office (as i work from home) as a way to strengthen my working relationships with others in the company. We also have 3 company away days in a year in which the three companies within the LMP Group all get together to better understand the company's goals, socialise and get to physically see each other, as there are a lot of work from home roles within the company.
Yes
They offer support as and when needed and really make you feel like a valid part of the company. They offer so many different courses for all types of people and all types of sectors. And I truly believe they care about their apprentices and they really want them to succeed
If you have any question, ask it - no question is a silly one. They understand that the apprenticeship journey is a brand new thing for most apprentices and thus know that there will be questions. If and when they offer CPD, do it. They really do want to see you succeed.
